    C
    haritable Hands Are Divine:  C.H.A.D.
is named For Chad Radvansky whose dad is a Morning Rush Irregular.  He called one day when he heard that I was in need of someone to help me install a door for a senior citizen who was in need of help.  As I spent a few hours with Bob Radvansky I learned why he not only makes himself available to help others, but in fact what motivates him to look for such opportunities.  His son, CHAD, had died in an auto accident.  Chad had stopped at a gas station just prior to his accident and desperately needed a few dollars for gas.  The station would not accept a $5 check, or allow him to sell a $25 gift card to the cashier for $5 so he could in turn use the money to buy gas.  He was then "run off" by the manager when he tried to sell the gift card to another customer.  Chad responded like I am sure I would have, he became upset and then sped out of the convenient store parking lot.  A few miles away, he ran off the road and died in the accident.  The exact details of what happened are a mystery, but Bob and Lisa Radvansky are sure that if only someone had help their son when he was in need, the chances are good that he would be alive today.

How about you, have you ever turned away from someone who was truly in need?  Or better yet, have you helped someone when you could have easily just kept moving?  It is funny that the feeling that you get when you help someone else is a heart warming experiece that you can't generate with any other action.

When Bob shared CHAD's story on the air, it motivated many Morning Rush Irregulars to get involved and help others.  It also created an opportunity for us to salute those in our community who have worked with organized charity efforts as well as those who already practice random acts of kindness.  That is what C.H.A.D. is all about, facilitating those who want to help with members of our communities who need help.

When Julie (of the Mayor's Office) heard Bob's story, she played the interview with Bob Radvansky for Mayor Bob Coble.  Mayor Bob called and wanted to get involved, so he facilitated a meeting for us to not only get organized, but to afford us the opportunity to use his office to link up with charities, neighborhood associations, and other organizations within the city so that our collective efforts would have a hub to not only identify such needs be be a source to join those individuals who can either donate time, money, or guidance and services to make Columbia and surrounding communities a better place to live. So I ask you "Can you share your two hands, or give me two dollars?"  So many of our needs in our community are not expensive to overwhelmingly time consuming, most of the time it a few hours or a few dolars.
Can you help?  Do you know of someone in need?  Can yo donate two dollars to the cause to facilitate those who can help?  Email me at
jrush@clearchannel.com to become a part of C.H.A.D. Charitable Hands Are Divine.  Experience that feeling that you can't get anywhere else, the feeling of helping others in need.
