The nation was shocked to discover we had been duped by Beyonce Monday with her acting like she had sung the National Anthem live. After seeing her in the Pink Panther we thought it was understood she can't act at all! So how did she pull this off and why? First the how. She prerecorded her voice with an instrumental version of the song from the Marine Corp band. Then she simply hid behind a mic as big as a potato. She even dramatically ripped out her ear piece to show how hard she was working to get it right.

  And now the poor Marines have been dragged in to this scandal after Master Sgt. Kristin DuBois said the band was notified at the last minute that Beyoncé would use a pre-recorded voice track. The Marines later admitted that the band was not playing live either as to not draw attention to the fact that they may fall out of pace with their recorded version that had already been mixed with Beyonce's voice.

Now for the why. Beyonce didn't have time to rehearse with the band is one of the excuses. Huh? She had time to go in to a studio and tweet pics out of her rehearsing/recording with the bands recording. 

She also said it was too cold to sing live. James Taylor sang live. Of course James singing is more like a hobo talking with some sort of musical speech impendiment. But hey Kelly Clarkson nailed it live!

And Aretha Franklin sang live last Inauguration when it was 21 Degrees as opposed to the 40 degrees people were basking in this year. Aretha said "I laughed out loud when I hear Beyonce faked it, but it's really the artists choice". Why didn't you lip synch it? "In 2009 I wanted to be as real and in the moment as possible". Any thoughts on Kelly Clarkson's performance? "Wow! Kelly was magnificent! I loved every minute of it". How about James Taylor? "He should get that speech thing checked out by a Doctor". She didn't say that about James. Like most of us she was probably lulled in to a sweet slumber and missed most of his performance.
