Medford Mass is just outside of Boston but is still a tight knight community. The people were shocked to hear the news that one of their postal workers was attacked by 3 teens in hooded sweatshirts. Police said the three assailants stole a master key from the postal carrier that is used to access USPS mailboxes. There they stole checks that were being mailed to companies and were able to cash a few at other banks. There's currently $150,000 reward for information leading to their arrest. This was the 3rd attack of a mail carrier in the Boston area over the past year.
In the meantime 5th graders Savannah McLaughlin and Adam Costello, came up with an idea. The attacks weren't always successful because the carriers cried for help and some residents came outside. So let's get safety whistles for all of our carriers. A little research and they found out there are 70 postal carriers in Medford. Their teachers at the Brooks School, helped them organize a fundraiser to raise enough money to buy the whistles.
