Randy Smalls of Moncks Corner South Carolina, was told that his teenage daughter was making fun of a classmate over her clothes and makeup. Here’s one of the twists: Smalls' wife and victim Ryan Reese's mother Richauna are cousins and neither had a clue what was going on between the 7th grade girls.
When Ryan's mom heard what was happening she called her cousin to tell her. Randy ended up speaking with her and got very upset that his daughter was doing this.
The next twist, to teach a lesson to both girls, Smalls told his daughter that their scheduled shopping trip for next Saturday would now go to Ryan.
"Her punishment was that the money that she was supposed to go and use, Ryan gets the money. I think that's the perfect punishment because my daughter likes to dress. So if they picking on a student because of the dressing, then I take away from her and give it to somebody else." Randy even had his daughter come along to help pick out some clothes and accessories for Ryan.
"I believe as a parent, we have to take responsibility for what our children do. We can teach our children and we can do whatever we can to help our children, but we gotta first take responsibility."
The final twist; after the shopping trip the girls bonded and are now friends. Ryan says it's extra special because of Randy. “He’s the first father figure I ever had. Sorry, ever since my father died, it’s just, it’s just been really hard. Now I have a man I can look up to. My mom is great but I think kids...we need both a man and a woman to help us grow up”
