Deer Hunters Donate Millions Of Pounds Of Meat To Food Banks

Back in 1992 deer hunters in Missouri saw a need in their communities for more food in the food banks. They started a program called Share The Harvest and this year they donated nearly 350-thousand pounds of deer meat to food banks and pantries across the state according to the Missouri Department of Conservation. Their donation to the will provide “lean, healthy” venison to feed hungry people in Missouri. That's from 6,795 whole deer. Of course they have to thank 100 participating meat processors throughout the state who grind the donated deer meat into ready-to-use packages, and the many sponsors who financially support the program.

Over the past 28 years Share The Harvest has provided over 4.3-million pounds of meat to those in need.
